I bought the Iris quadcopter a few weeks back. I haven’t had the time to properly get to know her, but my initial impressions are quite good. The Iris much more powerful than my other quad, The Parrot Drone 2, and my 2 fixed wing drones made from RC trainers. My initial flight with the Iris saw me destroy three of the four rotor blades and lasted about 15 seconds. I need to take it somewhere where there is a lot more space and fewer trees and power lines to see what it can really do.
One huge bonus is that a telemetry dongle comes with the Iris and allows the use of a laptop or Android tablet as a control station using APM Planner 2 I believe. All these cool things are great motivators to mod my parrot drone to RC control so I can use the same software for it. Now I just need the time to do it 🙂
I also received my plantlinks from their kickstarter that finished a little more than a year ago. Their simple devices and I’d like to have a better grasp of how my various potted plants differ in their watering needs. Lets hope their algorithms are up to snuff.
Edit: The links moisture sensors use a 2 AAAA batteries. I had no idea those were a thing.
